Professor Janet Cade

Professor Janet Cade leads the Nutritional Epidemiology Group in the School of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Leeds. Her main areas of research are nutritional epidemiology, and the relationship of diet to chronic disease development. A particular focus has been development of new dietary assessment methods. She is founder and director of a University of Leeds spin out Dietary Assessment Ltd, supporting the validated online dietary assessment tool myfood24. She has also developed Nutritools, a resource for researchers to help select the best tool for measuring diet.

Professor Cade has run the UK Women’s Cohort Study for over 20 years. She has served on the UK Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COT). She has published over 500 papers, abstracts and book chapters and generated over £6 million in research income (the majority as PI).

She is Hon Secretary for the Association for Nutrition the professional body for nutritionists. Protecting the public and promoting high standards in evidence-based science and the professional practice of nutrition.
