Food systems have been defined as comprising everything from production to processing, packaging, distribution, retailing and consumption of foods. The food systems are fraught with challenges, they are not providing healthy diets to over 3 billion globally, are not resilient in the face of crisis and shocks and are inefficient. Dietary risk factors have become the major contributor to the global burden of disease, and there is a global call for transforming the way food is produced and consumed.
Using the high-Level panel of experts of the committee of World Food Security Food Systems framework, the webinar will explain the various components of the food systems, highlight the challenges and what it would take to have a food system that delivers a healthy diet for all. Join Professor Lartey as she examines each aspect of the food system, agricultural production and food supply chains, food environment, consumer choices and how this impacts individual diet quality. The webinar will give some examples of interventions being implemented at country level.
