The COVID-19 pandemic promoted the resurgence of the importance of tackling the Obesity crisis from the Government. However, Obesity has long been a significant problem to the UK and global populations and is not just prevalent within adults, worryingly the Obesity crisis is inclusive to children and adolescents. In this webinar Professor Paul Gately explore the wide range of challenges faced by teenagers living with obesity and the prevention and treatment efforts that have been planned or undertaken in the UK.

Paul Gately is Director of MoreLife and a Professor of Exercise and Obesity at Leeds Beckett University, he is also a visiting professor in the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London. Paul was the Principle Investigator on Public Health England’s Whole Systems Approach to Obesity and he is the Co-director of the Centre for Applied Obesity Research. His primary research interest is childhood obesity treatment strategies but also the wider determinants of obesity. Paul has delivered over 450 presentations and scientific publications, as well as numerous policy documents on childhood obesity and physical activity promotion.
